→ On the 3rd of September the whole school went to the School field to do Cross Country. Cross Country is where everyone in the school has to compete in their own grade and they have to push themselves to the finish line and everyone will see how much they can push themselves. I did this because it was exhausting and I won something.
Paragraph 1: On a sunny day the whole school came in their house colours for Cross Country. We had all had to be separated from boys and girls in our grade. First before we went to the field we had to get changed for the race. Then Miss Tuia told us how to make the race easier and how we can keep on pushing ourselves. Most of us were anxious and the rest were just excited. I kept on thinking of ideas to get to the finish line without stopping and just end it. Our teachers gave us so many useful ideas like not sprinting at the starting line. Then we all lined up and got separated from boys and girls and also from grades. The wait was so long because the elite runners went first which means they have to do it twice. It made me so mad because I didn’t want to do this and we could go any minute. Then the senior kids went and they were so fast. The boys and girls runners also went for the little kids. Then after all the little kids it was time for team 4. The year 6 girls went then the year 5 boys. Then the year 6 boys went and then it was year 5 girls’ turn. We were so scared for this to happen.
Paragraph 2:The year 5 girls all lined up and we waited for the count down. 3..2..1. Then the clap went and we all sprinted past the line. We were all racing but didn’t know it was to pace ourselves and also push ourselves. We went out the gate and there were a few girls in front of me and a lot of girls behind me. I felt so proud of myself but knew that it could change if I didn’t stay focused. It was really hot and I had a headache because of the sun but when I only needed to run half more left I jogged. I was getting ready to finish but I was still far from the finish line. Some people almost caught up to me so I sprinted more. The sun made me feel like I could faint any moment but I didn’t. It just made me exhausted and sweaty. I was getting ready to fall down but then I changed my mind and kept going. Then there was this girl named Georgia who was in front of me and the girl in front of here was Aroha. They are very fast and I really wanted to catch up to them. Then Aroha crossed the finish line and she was in first place. After that Georgia wasn’t far behind and went past the finish line too. After that I knew I had to get in third place and I kept on running and I almost passed out but then I made it past the finish line. I then came first place and was exhausted from Cross Country.
Paragraph 3: After Cross Country we then had assembly. The assembly was very long until Miss Va’afusuaga came with all the rewards. It was only the top 3 people that came 3rd, 2nd and 1st for Cross Country. There were so many people on the stage because it was for Cross Country and sports awards. The stage was so filled with people that I don’t think they could even fit anymore. Then it was time for the Cross Country awards and first they started on the senior kids. After that it was time for the team of 4 kids which was us and they called up Aroha. Then it was Georgia and then me. I was so happy but also embarrassed because this meant that I paced myself and worked enough to earn this. Also everyone that came to Cross Country earns this because they tried their best too. Then once they fished doing the little kids the stage was packed with so many kids. Once the school gave a round of applause we all then sat down with our certificates in our hands.
Conclusion: In the beginning I was so nervous that I almost puked. I felt like I could just give up and not even try. I really wanted to but it just made me feel even more worse. I then thought of ways to finish it without stopping or giving up. Once I saw everyone who was participating in Cross Country I got so scared and almost cried. When we sat down and waited it made me want to burst out crying. Then I thought to myself that everyone should be trying and so should I so when the race started I sprinted and tried my best. In the middle of the race I got so exhausted and tired. I felt like giving up but then I saw how much I made it up to so I started to keep on going. Then once Aroha made it past the finish line Georgia wasn’t far behind. I was also not far behind Georgia but I was too tired to reach up to her. Then when she passed the fish line I was already behind her and I then came 3rd place. A couple days later at the assembly they started to hand out the certificates. I got so nervous but also excited. Then when I got the certificate I was happy and saw all the people that made it past the finish line. Once the whole school clapped I got very happy and thankful.
